Photoshop Remix Collage (group project)

For this project, we collectively decided on the theme "AI and Nature", agnostic of emotion, taking care not to use the terminologies of "versus" or "collaboration". We then went our seperate ways generating images that we thought identified the theme for ourselves. We each took 2 or 3 turns adding our assets to the collage. The result was expected to be clear for the other members of the class to identify.

Artist Statement: I went to the image generation apps of instagram image generation, as well as photoshop ai generated fill tool to ask them what the humans look like in nature in the future. After not getting any images that reflected any people of color organically, I tweaked the prompt to ask what Black people look like in the future in natural settings. I then removed the image of the Black persons, to signify how these algorithms are biased to think we don't automatically exist in the future without coaxing, and then overlayed themes of nature, such as leaves and clouds. Even when asked to insert a robot over the sihouette of the afro clad woman overlayed with clouds, the robot was still white.
